51 years ago, a 10-year-old started selling flowers. Today, we're still here serving Kitchener-Waterloo.

That kid grew up working in his parents' flower shop, learning that flowers are about more than just arrangements. Now, my wife and I run the business we bought from my parents, and we've expanded to two locations because we were so busy. We have one in Kitchener at 460 Frederick Street and one in Waterloo at 36 Devitt Ave North. That's why we're called KW Flowers.

What makes us different? We're actually here when you need us. We open at 7:30am because nobody else does. We're open Sundays when we're one of the only flower shops in town that opens. If somebody needs flowers and they say they're gonna be there at 6:30, even though we close at 6, we'll wait for them.

Our two stores mean we never run out. When a customer needs 63 red roses for his 63rd anniversary (he's been married that long, he's 91 years old), we have them. He started with one rose and now needs two vases to hold them all. When someone from China ordered 1001 roses to be delivered at 6 in the morning to his wife in Waterloo, we made it happen.

We don't just do flowers. We do gift baskets, balloons, planters - we're pretty busy all day. Our team includes Linda Mink and Kim, who are designers their whole life. They were born with a flower in their hand.

On our biggest days, like Valentine's, we've done almost 700 orders in one day. We've done 600 orders about eight to ten times. That takes tons of delivery people, tons of employees, but we make it happen.

We try to help people. Those people come back to us. After 51 years, we know how to get orders done, whether it's a time delivery for a funeral, something important for a business, or just because someone needs flowers.
